If you’re self-employed, then you will most likely understand how important it is to keep receiving work and taking on new customers. After all, being in demand helps to create a healthy business. So how can you get more customers onboard?
What is a ‘lead’?
A lead is a potential customer who has enquired about or is interested in you completing some work for them. New work often comes from leads, which is why taking care of them is often vital to the success of your business.
Communicate clearly:
Make sure that you keep potential customers updated with what you are doing and be transparent about your surveying and quoting processes before you get started.
Stay true to your word:
If you agree on something with a lead, do your best to keep to your word where possible. Customers need to know that they can rely on you from the very beginning of the job.
Remember as much as possible:
Write down as much information as you can from the initial enquiry. This will make life much easier in the future and it will also show the customer that you have taken the time to understand their requirements.
Respond Quickly:
It’s important to be as quick as possible responding to leads. This not only shows initiative, but it will fill them with confidence that you want to provide them with the best service possible.
Make sure they can reach you:
Make sure that your contact details are up to date and answer your phone as much as possible! A potential customer will take their business elsewhere if they can’t get hold of you.
Don’t give up on lost leads!
Even if you don’t think anything will come of it, you could give old leads a call after a week or two to see if they require any help with anything.
Taking the time to nurture new leads can help to increase the profitability of your business by much more than you may think. Why not give it a go?
