The cold winter months can be a slow period for those in the gardening trade. But, with spring on the horizon, it’s an exciting time for gardeners up and down the country.
The months of March and April bring an increased demand from customers who are looking to get their outdoor spaces in tiptop shape, so make sure you’re ready to ride that wave.
Here are just a few examples of services you could offer at this time of year.
Garden areas and outdoor spaces take more of a hit during winter, and you’ll find that many customers are in need of a good clean-up. Take this opportunity to clear away things such as moss and algae that can build up on pathways, patios and driveways.
In the process of the initial cleanup, you may also find other odd jobs and repairs that you can sell to customers such replacing a fence panel.
Spring is the perfect time for the first mow of the year. Mowing goes hand-in-hand with tending to weeds, which tend to accumulate through the winter months. With this in mind, you could offer customers a special spring maintenance offer which includes weeding, mowing and even mulching.
Mulching helps to improve soil fertility by retaining moisture and protecting plants from the elements. Your customers will thank you further down the line!
The breakthrough of warmer weather means it’s time to get planting in preparation for the summer bloom. Flowers such as sweet peas and dahlias will add a dash of colour to your customers’ gardens and are perfect for sowing in March.
