If you’re self-employed, you’ll know all about how time just seems to slip away from you and that there never seems to be enough hours in the day. After all, not only do you have your job to do, but you’ve got all the added extras from admin jobs, billing and tax returns to meetings and everything in between.
Finding ways to free up some time can allow you to work more productively, manage your time more effectively, and create a better work-life balance.
Below are some time-savers to help you focus on the bigger picture…
Do the most difficult tasks in the morning
Do you find that you work better when you’re feeling fresh in the mornings? If the answer is yes, it may be a good idea to get the most difficult tasks out of the way then. That way, you can free up your afternoon for anything that is more enjoyable or takes less brain-power.
So, whether admin is your worst nightmare or you find that client phone calls are the most difficult, try to get those out of the way in the mornings. You may be surprised how much more you achieve by not putting off the jobs you don’t want to do.
Use an online accounting software
For some people who are self-employed, juggling the books is far from easy. However, it’s also an extremely important aspect of running your own business.
Online accounting software could be the answer! There are a number of applications on the market which make it easy to manage your finances and can help save a lot of time to focus on your own work.
Outsource
If you are struggling to manage all the work you have on, there is always the option of outsourcing. If there are certain tasks that simply take up too much of your time and leave you unable to focus on your actual job, you could consider outsourcing to help take certain jobs off your hands.
Use a productivity tool
You might just find that using a productivity tool makes all the difference when you’re self-employed. These tools help you keep track of all projects and deadlines, a well as helping you store any documents or work in the cloud.
Some tools will even allow you to track how long you’ve spent on a particular project, making it easier to work out billing arrangements.
