Stax’s delivered customer base will continue to enjoy a first-class service after announcing plans to invest £1.5m and take operations in-house.
The beginning of February marked the end of a seven-year contract with logistics partner Ryder DDS, and the start of a new chapter in Stax’s class leading hybrid wholesale operation. A dedicated team of drivers and planner have joined Stax personnel, and the distribution fleet has also been refreshed with 3, brand new articulated and 5, 18 tonne curtain sided DAF lorries with tail lifts to complete this phase of development. “If we want to be the best at what we do, we simply had to change,” explained Stax Trade Centres Operations Director Nigel Wright, “Ryder have provided a great service over the years and we’ve learnt a lot. But, to move forward, be as flexible as we need to be, and spend money wisely, we had to take things on ourselves.” “This has been a huge team effort, and I’m proud of the commitment our accounts, operations, and branch teams have made during this process,” Nigel went on to say. “I also want to take this chance to welcome our new drivers and Transport Manager Michelle Hathaway, that have made this transition possible,” he added.
“Naturally it’s required a lot of organisation; ensuring TUPE transfer directives were met when bringing the team onboard, organising and purchasing new kit for them, as well as the new lorries and liveries - but we believe the will be worth it for their customers.” Stax will be taking receipt of the new vehicles in the coming weeks and will be complimented by branch level carrier support as demand flexes. The delivered service: In brief Our delivery service gives wholesale customers the freedom to order online and stock up on the products they need without having to visit one of our cash and carry branches. Products are loaded onto our lorries and delivered throughout the country, usually within one to two days. Following Stax’s acquisition of PDS Logistics in 2017, our distribution model has gone from strength to strength and continues to grow.
