For over fifty years Ronseal have provided the UK with premium DIY products. Our success means we are now the UK's leading woodcare brand. We are honest, straight forward everyday experts specialising in products that are easy to use and have a clear purpose.
A lot of you may know us from our slogan “Does exactly what it says on the tin”. But we asked ourselves what more we can be doing to engage our audience with the brand.
We set ourselves the goal of finding a partner who aligned with our core values of performance, durability and integrity. The result was our entry into partnerships with the Rugby Football League (RFL) ahead of the 2019 season, as well as signing with Rugby Union’s Guinness Pro 14.
The partnerships represented our first foray into sports sponsorship and sees Ronseal feature on the playing shirts of England Rugby League teams including Men’s, Knights, Women’s, Wheelchair, Academy and Youth squads, Ronseal will also activate with game day activations and pitch-side LED designs.
In February, we expanded our ties in Rugby League with the announcement Ronseal would become the principal partner of match officials in the sport. Our first Ronseal activation took place at the Challenge Cup Final on 24th August, running a competition across our social media channels for fans to participate in an on-field half-time kicking competition. With a lot more in the pipeline, it is a hugely exciting time for all of us.
The Rugby League deal expands on the partnerships our sister company Geocel have in the English Football League. Last season, Geocel signed deals with four Championship clubs; Aston Villa, Bristol City, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United. Geocel renewed with Middlesbrough for the 2019/20 season and agreed new partnerships with Birmingham City, Cardiff City, Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, Millwall and Preston North End.
Few sports know the value of community as Rugby League does, and this was a crucial reason for our pursuing of the partnership. Our challenge is to use these shared values to engage fans the same way we have engaged our consumers for the past fifty years.
Born in Sheffield, Ronseal has grown from the grassroots to become a reliable product that the public can trust. In the same way, the Rugby League community is first and foremost for the fans, it can be a second home for them. That community spirit is what makes up the fabric of your home.
We are Ronseal. We are your community.
