What should you be doing in the new year to take your business to the next level?
As tradespeople, time certainly is of the essence and we know promoting ourselves is often way down the list – despite new
business being a key, and constant, goal.
So, we spoke to our friends at Checkatrade who provided five simple tips which you can start to implement in the new year. time to set up a profile.
New year, new website?
There’s bound to be lots going on around the new year period, but it’s important that you don’t forget about some of the important things off the job. This is a great time of year to make sure that your website is up to date - whether that means updating some contact information that may have changed or adding some more recent images to your gallery - it all helps towards getting a head start.
Stand out from the competition
Let’s face it - there’s nothing better as a tradesman than having a nice stream of job leads coming your way. Even if you’re busy, having the ability to choose which jobs you take on is a good position to be in.
Social media is becoming more influential all the time and provides you with a platform to show potential customers what you’re up to and share your personality. Try and keep your profiles looking slick with up to date contact details, profile images and page description.
Invest in your future
What’s that age-old saying? Work smarter, not harder. We all know that, as a small business owner, it’s hard to find the time to take charge of day-to-day bookkeeping such as invoicing and booking appointments. Why not invest some time into finding new software that can help with this? There are loads of free tools available which will leave you with more time to spend on doing what you do best!
Build up your credibility
Now that you’re attracting some new business thanks to these handy tips, you’ll want to make sure that customers keep coming back! Building up a good relationship with your customers is a surefire way to increase future business and it’s really easy to do.
Make sure that you communicate with your clients clearly and give them what they want: a happy customer will help to spread the word about your services for free! You could also set yourself up on a platform such as Rated People, where thousands of customers will go to see that you’re reliable and qualified.
