If you run your own trade business, whether as a one man band or with multiple employees you’ll know that getting your name out there is important. Equally important however is making sure people can find your contact details should they need to.
It’s shocking how often you can go to look for a tradespersons phone number only to find it isn’t listed anywhere and you have lost their card. Here are 4 places you should definitely make sure your contact details are online:
On your website
There’s a baffling trend towards leaving just a contact form for customers to use to get in touch. This can be incredibly annoying for a customer who has an urgent problem and wants to be able to call you. You should always leave a direct email and phone number at least on your website.
Email signature
If you use email a lot then make sure your phone number is in your signature (a.k.a email footer). It’s often the first place a customer who needs to call you will look. You can also use this space to promote your website and any certifications/awards you might have.
Google MyBusiness
If you haven’t already, make sure you sign up for your own Google local listing through MyBusiness. If you’re not sure how, we’ve created a handy guide with more information - Is your business listed on Google?
Local and national business directories
There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of directories (most free, some are paid) where you can leave your businesses contact details and information. Do some research and start spending an hour or so each week uploading your details to various directories. Just make sure it’s always consistent and your local SEO will benefit too.
