Tradespeople showed that they make up one of the UK’s most adaptable business sectors after it was found that 90% of them brought in a new service of some sort during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The impressive statistic was unearthed after Yell Business released the results of their research into how small businesses across the country have adapted their offerings to cope with the demands the pandemic has put on them. We know all too well of the challenges posed over the past 12 months, however, it’s great to see our industry workers standing up and diversifying to stay in the game.
Safety restrictions meant that face-to-face communication between tradespeople and their customers was limited. However, change isn’t always a bad thing, and a vast majority of tradespeople took the opportunity to get social media savvy, taking to instant messaging platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter to stay on the job.
Many of the tradespeople surveyed explained that, even after lockdown, they’re planning to continue using their newly-implemented services due to their success.
Here’s a look at some of the new services we’re talking about: do any of them seem familiar to you?
41% started taking online bookings
40% began offering online video consultations
33% provided online video tutorials
27% invested in contactless payment systems
