Two Streets in Newton Heath, Manchester have been the subject of the popular BBC television show DIY SOS. In the last couple of years the show has helped out many families with particular lifestyle challenges. This edition centers on a project to house servicemen and women, and their families. It is the biggest challenge undertaken by the TV show.
The show will also feature very special appearances from Prince William and Prince Harry, both of whom have served their country.
As ever, local tradesmen gave up their time, and materials to be involved in the build. Sources say that over 100 Tradesmen appeared on the first day to help out.
The project is linked to the charity Walking With The Wounded and was the brainchild of host Nick Knowles. Nick apparently had the idea when he spoke to the Charities founder about empty housing. It doesn’t appear to have taken long for the BBC to green light the project and gain the backing of the DIY SOS team.
This episode of DIY SOS is due to air in October.
