Duct tape is an incredibly versatile piece of kit, it’s a great all round DIY tape that plays a part in many industries. Certainly a staple item for the toolbox!
Duct tape and it’s many uses are mostly on a semi-permanent basis where a strong, long lasting tape is required. Here are some of the top uses for duct tape:
Incredibly resistant to water and humidity, duct tape can be a great temporary solution to small water leaks and holes. Some practical applications include hosepipe leaks and watering cans. Simply wrap the tape 2 or 3 times around the leak, and it should be sufficient to hold.
The adhesive strength of duct tape, which is in part due to the hot-melt technology used to create it means that it’s perfect for fixing loose components on cars and motorcycles. Obviously this is a temporary solution before seeking a permanent repair, but the adhesive strength should be enough to hold it until such a time.
Broken tool components can be held firm with the use of duct tape and it’s uses aren’t just limited to indoor tools due to its waterproof properties. This can help to avoid the need for buying expensive tools due to just one broken component.
Rips and tears can occur on a variety of materials in the home, cloth, cardboard or even glass! Duct tape is a great temporary solution as it can repair and seal whilst adhering to a wide variety of surfaces. It can also last for months until a more permanent solution is found.
When it comes to wrapping and packing objects, no tape will hold more securely than duct tape, helping to ensure its integrity through transport. It’s often used even in asbestos removal to ensure the seal is maintained in which asbestos sheets are enclosed.
