Have you ever considered swapping to an electric vehicle for work? Maybe you have done already?
Recent research by Direct Line Business Insurance has revealed that more and more tradespeople are considering the switch - with a whopping 83% admitting they would like to invest in an electric vehicle for their business in the future.
Whilst electric vehicles are more environmentally friendly than their petrol or diesel counterparts, it’s apparent that the eco benefits aren’t the biggest attraction. The reality is that only 15% of tradespeople want to go electric for environmental reasons. Instead, 23% are more interested in the cost savings on fuel which would understandably have a greater impact on their on finances.
As the UK Government strives to reach Net Zero by 2050, it’s encouraging to see the trades moving with the times.
However, not everybody is sold on the idea of having an electric vehicle for work just yet… Many of those surveyed had concerns about the use of electric vehicles in the future such as high upfront costs and reduced driving ranges.
Here are the numbers:
Concern% respondents who agree
Limited driving range28%
High upfront purchase costs15%
Access to charging points at home14%
Access to charging points away from home13%
Limited choice of models12%
