AMA noted a 12% growth increase in 2013 from the previous year, 2014-15 is expected to see a similar increase.

After the recent turbulent sales the garden leisure market is now seeing healthy and steady growth. This year the market has gone past £600m in the UK with an approximate £100m increase since 2012.

Furniture has made up 60% of sales and DIY multiples have 40% market share. Garden centers have been suffering from loss of sales due to an increase in internet sales according to the report.

AMA have observed, better bank holiday weather, the increased number of high profile sporting events, the improving economy and a growing trend towards using outdoor space for leisure as being causal for the current drive behind the market.

They also note an interesting trade up on barbeques as consumers move from charcoal to gas. Own brands have snatched up an impressive half of the market.
