Seeds and bulbs were up 14% in Garden Centre Association members outlets in February.
Sales in other categories have also performed well, outdoor plants were up 9% and sundries up 10%. Catering also saw improvement with a 6% increase in February.
Said GCA chief executive Iain Wylie:
"It looks as if garden centre customers spent the majority of February preparing for the new season with purchases of new plants, sundries and seeds and bulbs."
