Hedgehog Awareness Week, running from the 5th – 11th May, has once again brought attention to the challenges facing one of Britain's most cherished garden visitors. Organised by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS), this annual event aims to raise awareness about the decline in hedgehog populations and promote measures to support their conservation.

Throughout the week, individuals, communities, and organisations across the country are encouraged to participate in activities aimed at raising awareness and supporting hedgehog welfare.

We are proud to announce that we now stock a range of hedgehog food from Brambles, a trusted name in wildlife nutrition. This addition to our inventory reflects our commitment to supporting wildlife conservation efforts and providing practical solutions for our customers.

The Brambles' hedgehog food range is meticulously formulated to meet the dietary needs of hedgehogs. With options ranging from specially formulated biscuits to meaty hedgehog food. Brambles offers a variety of nutritious choices to support hedgehog health. Not only does Brambles provide essential nutrition for hedgehogs, but their products also stand out for what they don't contain. With no added sugar, colours, or artificial flavours, Brambles ensures the well-being of these beloved creatures.

Why is hedgehog food important? As natural habitats shrink and traditional food sources dwindle, hedgehogs increasingly rely on supplementary feeding to survive. By offering Brambles’ hedgehog food, retailers and wildlife enthusiasts can provide a reliable source of nutrition for these endearing creatures, especially during times of food scarcity.

But it's not just about food – it's about creating hedgehog-friendly environments where they can thrive. During Hedgehog Awareness Week, we encourage our customers to promote hedgehog welfare by:

  1. Providing Shelter: Offer hedgehogs refuge by creating hedgehog houses or leaving undisturbed areas in gardens for nesting and hibernation.
  2. Minimising Hazards: Remove potential hazards such as garden netting, litter, and chemicals that pose risks to hedgehogs.
  3. Creating Safe Passages: Install hedgehog highways by creating small gaps or tunnels in fences to allow hedgehogs to roam freely between gardens.

Together, we can make a meaningful difference for hedgehogs and ensure their survival for future generations. Visit Stax today to explore the Brambles hedgehog food range and join us in supporting hedgehog welfare initiatives.
