The annual charity karting event held by Stax Trade Centres was held on Sunday (10th June), and once again it was a roaring success raising over £3,000 for charity, Rainy Day Trust.

The same as last year, the event was held in a grand prix style tournament at TeamSport’s Warrington branch. Entrants competed to gain podium finishes as individuals and teams, and also aiming to rack up the fastest lap of the day.

After a hard fought contest, last years winners, Workhouse Marketing, were pipped to the 1st spot by Leyland Trade. The team podium finished up:

1st - Leyland Trade (128 pts)

2nd - Workhouse Marketing (126 pts)

3rd - STL (102 pts)

Perhaps unsurprisingly considering the team finishing, the battle for individual accolades was also fought between Workhouse and Leyland Trade, with Leyland’s Myles Eagleston edging out Workhouse’s Tommi Meadows for the top spot. Lee Quail finished up in third place after an impressive run.

1st - Myles Eagleston (Leyland Trade)

2nd - Tommi Meadows (Workhouse)

3rd - Lee Quail (Sherwin)

The 1st Lady award was handed to Hayley Barber from Norcross and The Bent Axle Award was won by David Fairless of Stax who represented Leyland Trade.

Stax Joint MD, David Hibbert commented: “A fantastic day as always, some real tough competition and a lot of laughs. Absolutely delighted to have beat last years total of £2,500 and hit the £3,000 mark, which is what today is all about. Just shows that more people are wanting to get involved each year and the generosity is astounding. I’m already looking forward to organising next years event and hopefully raising even more for a cause that’s close to us here at Stax Trade Centres.”

For those who are unfamiliar with Rainy Day Trust, they’re the UK’s only charity supporting the home improvement workforce and their families should they fall on hard times.
