Average wages rise for tradespeople in most regions

; Recent statistics have shown that the average tradesman’s wages are up since this time

Published 12th November 2021

Recent statistics have shown that the average tradesman’s wages are up since this time last year, with those in the East Midlands a whopping 18.8% better off.

The research compared the average labour rates for tradespeople in each region for 2021 with that of the previous year and, whilst the rates of those in Yorkshire & the Humber and the South East have decreased slightly, all others have gone up since 2020.

Part of this could be down to the shortage of skilled workers, especially during the pandemic.

It was estimated that the industry was short of at least 140,000 skilled workers in the midst of the pandemic, and the increased demand has helped to drive up labour rates for most.
