One of Scotland's most established wholesalers and uniform suppliers, Wishart, has won a major contract on the back of Glasgow's Commonwealth Games.

Wishart Strikes Gold With Commonwealth Deal!

Wishart, now part of Stax Trade Centres plc, was founded in 1857 and has been supplying a wide variety of uniforms to a number of Scottish Councils for over 15 years. And now as the key uniform supplier for Glasgow City Council, the Edinburgh based company has secured a lucrative Commonwealth Games deal for the host city volunteer uniforms.

As host city, Glasgow City Council have invested heavily in the Games, and through their existing relationship with Wishart, gave the Edinburgh based company the opportunity to tender for the additional business.

Wishart MD George Gardner explains, Wishart and Glasgow City Council have had an excellent relationship for a number of years. We were therefore fortunate enough to be asked to tender for this large contract producing uniforms for Velodrome and Emirates Arena staff along with a significant order for all the Commonwealth volunteers and the various departmental staff involved in the event. Fortunately our reliable operational skillset and keen pricing meant we won the tender and for the past few months we have worked tirelessly to get Glasgow City Council staff ready for the games.

Wishart produced an array of different uniforms for the games, something that the large wholesale outfit s uniform department is already used to.

We produce such a wide selection of uniforms and personalised workwear here at Wishart including chef and catering clothing, ground worker uniforms and high-visibility clothing, refuse workwear, traffic warden uniforms, nurse and care home clothing, the list goes on. And so despite the tight deadline and large order, we were well on time to deliver the completed order at the highest quality, said Wishart Clothing Product Manager John Mitchell.

Wishart has seen a rise in demand in recent years within their clothing department, as more public and private sector businesses large or small - are looking to source top quality workwear within the UK rather than sourcing from overseas.
Gardner continued, Our commitment to quality at the right price, and with a reliably fast turnaround means that we re now looking at significant growth from clients of all sizes within our clothing department. We have a great relationship with all our Scottish public sector clients, so certainly the next step for us is to extend our reach south of the border into England, Wales and Ireland where our parent company Stax has significant operations.
