With the opening of the new Glasgow branch scheduled for the 30th August and Scottish Big Brands Show over the Tuesday the 8th and Wednesday the 9th of September Stax is gearing up for an exceptionally busy period north of the border.
Building on the tremendous success of the Manchester show, this years Big Brands Show will be held at the new 80,000 square foot warehouse on the outskirts of Glasgow, less than a week after the purpose built branch opens its doors to the public for the first time.
Stax Operations Director Nigel Wright has been overseeing the development of the site and has been impressed by the diligent work the has been carried out commenting, “We are well on schedule to have everything ready by the 30th of August, construction-wise there has been significant progress with partitions and a mezzanine floor going up for the offices and cafeteria, whilst the whole unit has received a full coat of paint. The biggest landmark moment for me was when the cladding went up on the outside of the building, transforming it from an average warehouse into something that is now really starting to look like a Stax branch.”
Inside, the enormous task of assembling all the racking is complete and stock is scheduled to start arriving from the first week of July. The focus for management team George Gardner and Steven Brady has now switched to recruitment as George explains, “Both Steven and myself have been joined by loyal staff from the Edinburgh and Wishart branches and we are well on with interviews for positions across the business following a phenomenal response to our recruitment advertising campaign.”
In summary Stax Joint Managing Director David Hibbert commented, “We have had some fantastic support from our suppliers. Whilst the building work has been progressing the buying team have been working extremely hard alongside huge brands such Akzo Nobel, Dencon, Black & Decker, STV, Ronseal, PPG, Nexus, Henkel and Pagoda to put together some superb deals for the opening of Glasgow which will also be carried across the rest of the branches”.
