Stax Trade Centres is continuing to strengthen its sales representatives, the widening of its gardening ranges, the development of on-line ordering and the launch of a new 164 page gardening catalogue.
Stax sees the Garden Centre sector as an area where it can achieve continued growth. Joint Managing Director, David Hibbert, said,
“We’ve been serving the garden centre market for nearly 30 years, mainly on a cash and carry basis, while offering a delivered service to a limited number of garden centres. While we have been unable to develop a delivered service for contractual reasons until recently, we recognise that the garden centre market would benefit from and appreciate the Stax ‘customer focused’ style of trading. With this in mind we set about putting in place an infrastructure to offer a top of the range service to garden centres.“
During 2009 Stax saw gardening sales increase by 24% and Hibbert predicts that this trend will continue throughout 2010, with the first quarter’s trading showing an increase of 62%.
The recently launched 2010 catalogue is 30% bigger than the 2009 version. In addition, the popular SupaGarden range, developed specifically for the independent sector has been expanded.
Stax now has a total of 7 dedicated sales representatives, all with significant experience of working within the garden sector, visiting Garden Centre customers on a regular basis. Hibbert continued,
“Stax is totally committed to supporting the independent retail sector, and most Garden Centres are still independent. Our gardening ranges are ever increasing and we believe that the best way to support them is to customise our service to meet their needs. So with increased personal service, better on-line facilities, a substantial catalogue Stax is strengthening its gardening offer to Garden Centres.”
